Preparation time: 10-15 mins (or as long as you fancy if you get your creative hat on)

Method

  1. Sift the icing sugar into a bowl and stir in the water until you have a smooth, runny paste that coats the back of a spoon. If you’re making lemon icing, add a squeeze of lemon juice. Make the icing by mixing together the water and icing sugar until you have an icing like consistency.
  2. Dip the Madeleines into the icing at an angle, then sprinkle with your favourite decorations.
  3. Pop them on some greaseproof paper to set before serving.
